Week 2 of the NFL season kicks off on Thursday night with a huge matchup between AFC West Division rivals. The Kansas City Chiefs host the Los Angeles Chargers, and both teams are among the favorites to win the Super Bowl.

Los Angeles was able to survive a scare from the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1, but they need to play much better in this game. The Chargers are a popular pick to win the division in 2022, and a win in this game would go a long way.

Kansas City went on the road to Arizona in Week 1 and put up a dominant performance. The Chiefs rolled to a 44-21 win and basically did nothing wrong throughout the entire game.

The Kansas City Chiefs are 3.5-point betting favorites over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2.

Los Angeles Chargers vs Kansas City Chiefs Game Preview

THE CHARGERS NEED SOME BALANCE

The Los Angeles Chargers are going to ride quarterback Justin Herbert for as long as he can take them, but he is going to need some help. Herbert threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns in Week 1, but the Chiefs will be coming after him in this one.

Austin Ekeler had 14 carries for 36 yards in Week 1, and the Chargers have to find a way to run the football more effectively. Not only that but running the football will give the Chargers defense a chance to take a break and rest on the sidelines.

The Chargers’ defense can also step up in this game as they feature one of the best pass rushes in the league. Los Angeles likes to score points, but being solid on defense is a better strategy in this one.

CHIEFS WILL TAKE CHANCES

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes put on a show in Week 1, and he is going to play a similar brand of football throughout the season. Mahomes had five touchdown passes in the season opener, and he won’t be afraid to take some shots down the field.

Tyreek Hill is no longer a member of the Chiefs, but Travis Kelce is still a huge weapon for Mahomes. Kelce had eight catches for 121 yards and a touchdown in Week 1, and he will be a big factor in this game.

The Chiefs did give up 21 points in that win, but they were facing a great offensive team in Arizona. Playing at home should help the Chiefs be more solid on that end of the field in this one.

CHIEFS CRUISE TO WIN OVER CHARGERS

Los Angeles has to prove that they can beat the Kansas City Chiefs before they can take over the AFC West Division, and it won’t be easy on the road. Kansas City looked unstoppable in Week 1, and they should have a similar performance in this one.

The Chargers want to win games by scoring points, but they are going to need to get some stops in this one. Kansas City just has so many weapons on that side of the ball, and they are going to use home-field advantage to pick up another big win.

Bet the Kansas City Chiefs -3.5 as they roll to a double-digit win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football.
